Serra d'Irta Park
The pathways in Ribamar are being cleared to prevent fires
About 2.5 kms have been cleared.
The Sierra de Irta Park maintenance brigade, cooperating with the Alcala-Alcossebre Council, is clearing overgrown vegetation from the pathways in Ribamar in Alcossebre, part of the municipality of Alcala de Xivert, to prevent forest fires in this natural area.
The work has been carried out along about 2.5 kms of tracks. It consisted of clearing and selective pruning of a 2-metre border of vegetation along both sides of the pathway, and then shredding the resulting waste. The aim is to prevent possible fires as well as guaranteeing the safety of the Natural Park’s residents and users.
This is because access to the Sierra de Irta Natural Park from Alcossebre is along a pathway which along the first few kilometres also serves as access for people who live there and those who stay in the campsite there.
