Alcala de Xivert Council reacted quickly following the theft of copper cable
Repairs will cost over 5,000 euros
Last weekend, copper cable was stolen from the whole electrical installation at the municipal San Fernando football pitch, and the Alcala de Xivert council responded immediately to repair the damage caused.
As Mayor, Francisco Juan Mars, stated, “As soon as we were advised of the theft, we set to work immediately so that the town’s children and young people could enjoy the football pitch again as soon as possible”, and he added that “that very Monday we ordered the cable and as soon as the material arrived, we prioritised the work at the football field”.
In total 2,000metres of copper cable were stolen, leaving the lights on three of the four lighting towers unusable. In spite of having been carried out by the municipal brigade, the repairs will cost the municipal coffers more than 5,000 euros, but our sports fans can now enjoy using the facility.
