Alcala de Xivert-Alcossebre Council improves pedestrian accesses to the beaches

The work has been carried out by those town residents who have been contracted for work under the Employment Plan.

[Img #32192]The Municipal Employment Plan in Alcala de Xivert-Alcossebre has provided labour for repairing the paving along three accesses to the beach, two of them from the Cami L’Atall and one from the Avenida del Cid, in Las Fuentes.

The Employment Plan is an initiative which in this latest phase has created 38 jobs and in which during the various phases 500,000 Euros have been invested.

The mayor, Francisco Juan Mars, pointed out that “through this work, besides improving two important accesses to the beach which are used by many holidaymakers during the high season, we have a double purpose creating jobs to alleviate unemployment in the town.  This means that the population benefits on two fronts, improvement of facilities in the town and to the economy”.

The work included replacing the existing paving with tiles in the access to the Cargador beach to make it easier for pedestrians to pass.  Two of these passages are next to the Vista Alegre building and the Playamar building.  The third gives access to the Las Fuentes beach from the Avenida del Cid.  Work is also planned for the access from the Marina to the Promenade in Las Fuentes.
