Alcala de Xivert-Alcossebre council
has opened the extension to the Avenida de Castellón in Alcossebre to traffic.  The road construction work has been ongoing during recent months.  This road, according to council sources, will reduce traffic congestion in the middle of Alcossebre village, allowing vehicles heading for Las Fuentes or other urbanisations further north to get there without having to go through the narrowest streets, which up to now have caused a bottle-neck, making it difficult for traffic to circulate.

The work consisted of extending the road by 420 metres, with a budget of 300,000 euros, creating 3.5 metre wide pavements and a 5 metre wide roadway.  There are street lights and places to plant trees along the pavements.

There are also new traffic lights where the Avenida Castellón meets the carretera de Alcossebre, which will make it safer to access the main road.
