Alcossebre’s Annual Fiestas Come to an End
Alcossebre put the final touch to their fiestas this past weekend with events organised by the local groups as the outstanding feature of the festive programme. On Saturday, there was the Junior Chess Championship organised by the Alcala Chess Club, and the First Children’s Paintball.
Then it was the members of the “Sant Benet” Pensioners Association who organised the Paellas Competition, and that evening it was the turn of the Alcozancos, with their spectacle of fire in the bull ring and the bars area. Another entertaining event was the presentation by the Alcala de Xivert Theatre Association of two farces, “Nelo Bacora” and “La Clavellinera” in the Plaza de la Constitución.
On Sunday, 14th September, the last day of the fiestas, events started with the ecological walk “Let’s Play Trivia”, organised by Alcossebre Joven.
Another noteworthy event on the last day was the traditional “Sant Benet” Pensioners Association luncheon for its members, which was attended by over 400 diners. The event was marked by the presence of the vicepresidenta of the Diputación, Esther Pallardó, the mayor, Francisco Juan Mars, and members of the local council and the Festeras.
The final highlight of the festivities, marking the end of the town’s celebrations until the following year, was the great fireworks display set off on the Cargador Beach by Pirotecnia Tomas from Benicarlo.
