Carnival fills the streets of Alcossebre with that ‘fiesta’ feeling!

We had two intense weekends when the ‘collas’ had organised entertaining, imaginative processions in Alcalà and Alcossebre.  The carnival-goers enjoyed themselves and gave the crowds who had gone to watch the celebrations a great time.

Alcossebre was the last carnival date and did not disappoint.  The fiesta started with the traditional “Pyjama Party Night” on the Friday, with the main processions on the Saturday.  The Children’s Carnival filled the town’s main streets with children eager to take part in the fiesta.  And their parents did not let them down with many of them accompanying them in the procession.

The night brought another explosion of colour, imagination and entertainment in equal parts.  The procession included nearly all the ‘collas’ which had taken part in the fiesta in Alcala a week earlier and they were joined by many others from Alcossebre who did not want to miss out on the event.  Hundreds of people watched the progress of the carnival goers who danced to all kinds of rhythms as they showed their love for the most outstanding fun fiesta in the town’s calendar.

The procession ended, as has become customary, in the marquee set up in the Paseo Maritimo, where the carnival goers used up their last energy to the rhythm of the music.

And now the big question, of course, is........  What shall we dress up in next year?
