The Friends of Alcossebre Association held an unusual event on Friday, 7th November, an auction to raise funds for the different charitable initiatives they undertake during the year.
This meant that the Chill-out Bar at the Alcossebre Pensioners was converted into an auction room, offering a wide variety of lots, about a hundred, which included everything from small electric domestic appliances, menus in local restaurants, televisions, golf clubs, paintings, tools, bicycles and tablets.
Over 200 people took part in the bidding, with representatives from different local groups, proving the excellent relationships and integration between the Spanish residents and the foreign residents in Alcossebre and Alcala de Xivert.
After people had registered to take part in the bidding, the organisers gave an explanation, in English and Spanish, of how the auction would work, which raised people’s excitement who had seen such things thanks to television reality shows, and could choose objects at very affordable prices.
The items being auctioned had been donated by their owners or, in some cases, were auctioned on behalf of the owner with a percentage of the final price going to the association.
At the end, after some hard-fought, exciting bidding, there were many who will certainly not miss the next auction. Shortly the Friends of Alcossebre will announce the amount raised at this charity event.
