Alcossebre celebrates the San Antonio Fiesta
Alcossebre celebrated San Antonio again this year. Throughout the weekend there were different activities including the guiñote championships which have become traditional in the bar Gales.
The busiest day was Saturday, 23rd January with the wake-up fireworks and the collection of wood by the mayorales to build the bonfire which would be set alight that night.
Mid-day was the time to gather their strength again and there were many groups of families and friends who took part in the paella competition.
That night, the traditional lighting of the bonfire was followed by a communal barbecue roast and party lasting well into the early hours of the morning.
The festivities ended on Sunday morning with the church service and the procession of animals, together with the distribution of pastries to those taking part.
