Alcala de Xivert-Alcossebre Council is asking for a Home Hospital Unit (UHD) to be available for the two town centres
Mayor Francisco Juan Mars and Councillor María Agut met with representatives of the Health Department to press for the service to be set up in Alcossebre as well as Alcala, which was put forward by the general sub-director of the Integrated Assistance Activity, Mariam García Layunta, in the meeting held on 1st March with the Health Department.
Alcala de Xivert-Alcossebre Council has been asking for this service to be available locally for over two years, with the consensus for it to be set up from those responsible for health at the Vinaros Area Hospital and the local Health Centre. Last August the need for bringing forward the process for it to start was passed on to those newly responsible at the Health Department.
The UHD service being requested by the municipality would provide assistance for those patients who require hospital attention but with the advantage of receiving it in their own home, with the intimacy and comfort that this would mean, with the added advantage of not having to travel to the Hospital in Vinaros.
The Mayor said that “we had already had a meeting last August with the Director General, stating our desire to cooperate and the greatest loyalty. We have gone through all the processes with those responsible and the health professionals and we believe that we cannot delay setting up the UHD in our municipality any longer”. Following the March meeting he said “Having reached this point, we can no longer delay setting up the UHD in Alcala and Alcossebre and in April we will ask the Health Department for concrete measures to make this real, as the professionals and the Council are ready to do everything they possibly can”.
