The Socialist Group asks for protection for the monumental trees in Alcala-Alcossebre
The environmental and historical characteristics of the municipality provide an ample diversity of examples and forested expanses making up a heritage which should be preserved

Alcala de Xivert-Alcossebre is the second largest municipality in the province of Castellón. Within its boundaries can be found a wide range of environments in which there are important tree species and remarkable forested expanses with which the people feel identified.
According to Adrià Barceló, “it is important that a catalogue should be drawn up of those which have a particular interest for the town”, which, as she explained, should include examples which meet the criteria of antiquity, size, and particular singularity and rarity. “The preservation of these examples of public interest and the results obtained in this list should be the basis on which a municipal regulation should be drawn up which would complement the autonomous level which already exists”, he concluded.
This initiative is aimed at giving greater value to a heritage which currently finds itself vulnerable, but which directly influences the quality of the landscape of our woods, cultivated fields, parks and gardens.
In parallel with this, it is proposed that a Municipal Assessor Board for Forestry be created with council officers and representatives of owners of trees of interest, to set in motion conservation mechanisms, management, awareness and to provide the necessary information so that owners are not frightened off when they are asked to list the particular examples which exist on their plots, and so that they see that it is an action of benefit to the town rather than an inconvenience for them.
