The number of visitors to Alcossebre in July 2016 was 7% more than last year

Alejandra Roca, the head of the Alcala de Xivert-Alcossebre Tourism department, announced the occupation figures for the start of the summer season. She stated that “at present there is a great difference compared with the previous year”.
June 2015 saw 70% occupation while this year the figures reached 75% occupation. Then during July this year the percentage rose from 83% to 90%, 7% more while the national average increase was 5%.
The same figures indicate that the number of summer residents has increased, particularly among tourists from the United Kingdom.
Roca stated that the opening of the Castellón airport is among the factors which have influenced the results. The direct links with the United Kingdom have given a boost to Alcossebre, the destination which traditionally has counted on a large number of visitors and residents from the UK. “Previously we had noticed a tendency for the numbers of English tourists to increase in the low season, but this has now been confirmed in the summer months as well”, she added.
To continue promoting the destination further to the British public, the Alcala-Alcossebre Tourism councillor announced that after the summer they will take part in the London Tourism Fair.
