Alcala-Alcossebre Council demands that the Generalitat lifts the block on the main sewer for the new EDAR

[Img #54186]On Wednesday, 11th January, the Mayor and the Town Planning councillor went to the EPSAR to insist that the Generalitat experts should lift the paralysation order which has lasted more than a year.

On Wednesday, the mayor of Alcala-Alcossebre Francisco Juan, and the Town Planning councillor, José Colom, met the manager of the Entitat de Sanejament d’Aigues-EPSAR from the Generalitat Valenciana to demand that they lift the block on the project for connecting the sewage system for the Alcala town centre with the new sewage plant, which was opened and commenced operation in 2014.

José Colom, explained that “it is a priority infrastructure, but, in spite of having demanded at periodic meetings with the top people at the EPSAR, and writing to them, there has been no advance and it continues in its study phase by the Department’s experts”.  On the part of EPSAR, the Council was told that, in the second quarter of 2015 they would licence the work and that work could start on it in 2016 but, for the time being, the project remains paralysed.

Francisco Juan emphasised that “we have always shown the greatest cooperation with EPSAR to advance the project but it has now gone on for too long.  It has to be considered that this is an extended project which, once it is drawn up, has to go through a period of public exhibition and the presentation of complaints, so we shall continue adding delays”.  And he reminded people that “we had already forecast a section of the budget for the purchase of the land to be expropriated for the work to be carried out in the municipal budgets for 2016 and it has not been possible for this to happen”.

The meeting presented a list of the complaints from the Council on the state in which the road from the Tossalet roundabout to the entrance to Alcossebre was left, following the construction work for the new sewer.  Expert reports, which have not been taken into account by the EPSAR, have been sent by the council certifying the damage caused to the road.  “We shall continue demanding that EPSAR should take on the road repairs, as it was their work which caused the damage”, the Mayor reminded people.
