Work on the Alcala sewage system will start in 2018
The Mayor and the Town Planning councillor had a meeting with the director and engineers from EPSAR and to obtain a commitment for the work to be licensed at the end of the year.
The mayor, Francisco Juan, and the Town Planning councillor, José Colom, met the director and engineers from EPSAR to pass on to them their concerns regarding the accumulated delays in drawing up the project for the sewage system which will connect the centre of Alcala with the new sewage plant, which has been serving Alcossebre since 2014.
During the meeting, the EPSAR representative gave an assurance that the project has already been corrected and is now ready to be sent to the relevant bodies in the Department. “What is important now is to get approval for the project as soon as possible and so that it is not delayed any more as it is essential that the sewage purification process is ensured for Alcala as happened in Alcossebre”, the mayor explained. Then the Generalitat committed to licence the work at the end of 2015 with the work able to start in 2016. With the new terms, it is hoped that licensing can be possible at the end of this year, 2017, and that the work can start in 2018.
As soon as the Generalitat gives the green light to the project, the Council will need to start the process to swiftly start making the expropriations. The Mayor indicated that “we are grateful for the good will and involvement of EPSAR in this project, but we need to expedite all the processes, to ensure that the work is completed in a maximum of two years, and to achieve this the Council and the Generalitat will need to work in parallel”.
