Alcala-Alcossebre Council prepares a case to present to the Generalitat to permit local taxis to operate in Castellón Airport

They are requesting the Dirección General de Obras Públicas, Transporte y Movilidad, to pass a new resolution authorising the Alcala-Alcossebre taxis

Alcala-Alcossebre Council has already sent the file prepared against the resolution issued by the Dirección General de Obras Públicas, Transporte y Movilidad, to the Conselleria de Vivienda, Obras Públicas y Territorio because the resolution did not include the Alcala-Alcossebre taxi license holders in the authorisations to operate in Castellón airport.

The resolution authorised taxis from Torreblanca, Cabanes, Oropesa del Mar and La Pobla Tornes but, however, excluded the Alcala-Alcossebre professionals, in spite of being the tourist nucleus closest to the airport.  The reasons set out in the file explain that the council had sent a letter last December, requesting that local taxis be able to operate, as they had not been taken account of at the time of drawing up the resolution.  It also alleges that the resolution in question says that it was drawn up at the proposal of the representative associations of the sector and with previous consultation with the affected towns.  However, at no time had the Alcala-Alcossebre municipality been asked for a view.  The geographic proximity of the airport with the town and the fact that it is one of the preferred tourism destinations by users of the airport infrastructure are more arguments used in the file which ends requesting that the Dirección General de Obras Públicas, Transporte y Movilidad should prepare a new resolution which should include the Alcala-Alcossebre taxis.

The Tourism and Economic Promotion councillor, Alejandra Roca, indicated that “there is no doubt at all that many of the tourists who land at the airport go on to Alcossebre so, since 2015, we have been asking for this situation of not allowing our taxis to operate there to be resolved.  It was a nasty surprise to see how the Generalitat prepared the resolution without taking our town into account, in spite of having explained the problem on so many occasions and requested meetings.  Therefore, we think that the Generalitat will look favourably on our case and we shall achieve the same terms as the rest of the towns for our taxi operators”.
