It means that the consolidation and improvement works at this historic Templar site can continue.
Castellón Provincial Diputación is planning to invest 125,000 euros in new consolidation work at the Xivert castle, which means that the reconstruction of the architectural site, property of the provincial body, can continue. The investment will be voted on at the next meeting of the Diputación and will be included in a credit modification. At present, the project is being drawn up by a specialist architect, to consolidate the structure of the Templar castle.
The vice-chairman of the Diputación Provincial, Vicent Sales, visited the castle with the mayor of Alcala-Alcossebre, Francisco Juan, and the Culture councillor, María Agut, to check on the progress of the restoration work on the remaining parts of the castle, restoring the original structures, as well as other tasks to add value and spread the heritage, such as the installation of notice boards and promotional activities as part of the Diputación Provincial’s “Templar Territory” initiative.
The Mayor said that “for the Diputación Provincial, tourism and culture go hand in hand to grow the economy. Certainly, for our town, the consolidation work at the Xivert castle is a priority activity for the Diputación as part of its heritage conservation actions, as well as the other actions such as the archaeological sites and the improvement at the Santa Lucía chapel”.
