Alcossebre completes its fiestas events with the evenings in the tent area and the “Tapas Route”
At the weekend, the fiestas events continue with bulls, dances and sports activities
Events started on Wednesday with the opening of an exhibition of Enrique Arrufat’s vintage radios, children’s workshops and the opening of the tented area and the fiestas stage in the paseo Marítimo. There was the traditional procession of local groups and bodies, known as the Pregonet. Then live music from 11.00pm from the Destrangis group with thir “Tribute to Estopa” performance.
Alcossebre’s Patronal fiestas continued with events such as activities for children, bulls and dances and days of the Tapas Route, in which 16 local establishments are taking part. For 2.50€ there is a choice of tapa and drink between the hours of 12.00 and 15.00h. The cafes and restaurants offer delicious small culinary creations, meaning that many residents and visitors are encouraged to follow the route. In Alcossebre this continues until 10th September, having run from 24th August to 3rd September in Alcala.. The Alcala-Alcossebre Council initiated the scheme, with the collaboration of the Alcala-Alcossebre Businesses Association.
The local gastronomy offer continues in the evenings between 18.00hrs and 20.00hrs in the tents area, with a tapa and a drink for 2,50€. Thus people who enjoy the fiestas events in this area can also enjoy this alternative in the evening.
On Thursday there were two children’s theatrical performances by Alcocebre Joven. As well as a comic bulls display, including bulls with fire on their horns. At 10.30pm the local Asociación Musical Santa Cecilia presented their pasodobles concert alongside the tented area, ending with a Fiesta Fluor and disco.
On Friday morning at 9.00am, the day started with a yoga masterclass, then a pirate-themed party at 17.30hrs, bulls, a dancing display by the Grup de Danses Lo Cirilo accompanied by the Grup de Dolçainers i Tabaleters Lo Xular, and a summer Carnival and dance with the Orquesta La Senda.
Saturday night’s entertainment is presented by the Asociación Teatre Alcala, with local actors performing two farces.
The fiestas come to their finale on Sunday night with the stilt-walkers giving a special performance in front of the Tourist Office and then the Grand Firework Display.
