Alcala PSPV is requesting that the station waiting room should be open and that the local police should be installed there.

The PSPV has put forward a motion requesting approval for renting the station waiting room and that a feasibility study should be carried out into the cost of moving the local police installation to the Alcala train station

The Alcala socialists state that “since the station closed, many people have continued taking the train and there is no way they can access the station buildings to shelter from the cold or simply to be able to do what is necessary”.  They declare that “this fact is resented by our residents, as in many nearby towns with a station which is in the same situation as ours, they have been able to remedy it at a ridiculously small cost to the public purse”.  The socialists add that “The solution is so simple, as the local police could be in charge of opening and closing the installations half an hour before the departure or arrival of any train”.
The socialist councillors assure that “after holding meetings with the officer of ADIF, the cost of renting the waiting room would be 600 Euros per annum (which is what a part time councillor earns at two 15 minute meetings)”.  They add that “with this basic service we would also prevent many of the acts of vandalism which take place every week at the railway installations and which give such an ugly image of the town”.
The Municipal Socialist Group has also “put forward the idea of moving the local police installations from their current site in a road with difficult access, parking and operation, to the train station installations”.  For the PSPV, this “would solve all the problems which the local police force faces currently and would also save a great amount of rent compared with what they pay now for the place”.  The socialists have put this idea forward before and the study of the project to move the offices to the station, but they say that “it has been delayed and there has been no public response about this”.
