Work has started next to the La Coloma Gully on the paseo del Cargador in Alcossebre

The work, being undertaken by the Provincial Coastal Service and the Alcala-Alcossebre Council, will resolve travel problems in this area

Work is continuing with the improvement and development of the section of the Paseo del Cargador in Alcossebre next to the La Coloma Gully, an area which has several different problems - it is difficult for drive along and has poor pedestrian accessibility, having not been asphalted because of its proximity to the beach.  The work will provide a solution to these access problems, by widening and continuing the existing section of the wooden walkway and constructing an auxiliary track for emergency vehicles, such as ambulances, which will be marked with wooden posts.  There will be a roundabout at the south end which will control the passage of vehicles in the case of emergencies and new lighting will be installed in the area.  It is also planned to construct an auxiliary road leading through to the camino L’Atall which runs parallel to the Paseo del Cargador.  The Alcala-Alcossebre Council is contributing 25,000 euros to this work.

Mayor Francisco Juan said that “with the good will and cooperation from the Provincial Coastal Service in matching this work by combining respect for the environment by using natural material such as wood and planting native tree species with the solution the Council requires of solving the problem of poor accessibility in the area”.

It is expected that the work will be finished in the next three to four weeks.  The Council apologises for any inconvenience it may cause.
