The Socialist Group presents amendments to the Alcala budget to reactivate the economy and create employment
The Socialists want to increase social protection for pupils families which are experiencing economic difficulties.

In an earlier phase they had already proposed that: the obsolete drainage network should be renovated: the renovation of the pavements in Las Fuentes and the installation of swings suitable for disabled children. They also want to encourage the use of ceramic products.
The Municipal Socialist Group on the Alcala de Xivert-Alcossebre Council will put forward a package of amendments to the municipal budget which will be presented for debate and approval at the council meeting next Wednesday, 29th November, to implement the policies to reactivate the economy and encourage employment, as well as increasing the system for social protection for those families in the municipality which are most vulnerable.
As Joan Ronchera, the PSPV-PSOE spokesperson, explained “these are realistic and viable amendments, we do not want more money spent, but just to redistribute it, reducing the sections which are not a priority and increasing those which are”.
As an example, he clarifies that one of the proposals contemplates saving 12,000 euros in the publicity and communication section because “the mayor has budgeted 20,000 euros for 2018 and we think that 8,000 euros is enough, particularly taking into account justified suspicions, which we have, that this money for the promotion of the town will end up being destined for the promotion of the mayor”.
This saving, Ronchera explains, should be used to set up policies which would help to reactivate the local economy and increase the level of social protection. “We would like there to be grants for companies which take on those who are long-term unemployed or find it difficult to become part of the labour market and a support line for local entrepreneurs who decide to start a business. We also propose assistance for the integral renovation of empty dilapidated houses in the town centre. And to complement the “Xarxa llibres” programme with assistance for those families which might need it with acquiring school books”.
Additionally, the socialist spokesperson listed the work which his group would create to be tackled in the locality during 2018, emphasising that “as long as it is feasible, ceramic products would be used because we in Alcala also want to bring something to the Castellón province’s economy as, obviously, the tile industry is very important”.
Going into the detail, Ronchera listed the work which the Municipal Socialist Group proposes and which he confirms will happen:
- To start carrying out the most urgent work to the obsolete drainage system. It would mean carrying out the most pressing work in 2018 and continuing the task in following years.
- To improve the pavements in Las Fuentes and to tidy up the internal passages.
- Tidying up the Alcala – Alcossebre service road because there are poorly surfaced sections and lacking signage.
- To improve the air conditioning in the Casa de la Música because the lead is coming off on the first floor and the second floor is in urgent need of air conditioning as it is a very damp classroom in winter, used by children under 4 years old.
- To provide swings in the squares and streets suitable for use by the town’s disabled children and for others who visit the town because their families choose Alcossebre as a tourist destination.
- To surface the Cami Artola which is used a lot by Capicorb residents.
- To surface the road connecting La Jorba with the Cami Campament, to reduce traffic congestion.
- To make the lighting in the Las Fuentes football pitch more powerful so that it can be used for sport during the winter.
- To build a sheltered area or a covered building for events in Alcossebre.
