The Alcala-Alcossebre Fiestas Department opens the terms for candidates for the King or the Queen of the 2018 Carnival
The Alcala Carnival will be held between the 9th and 11th February and the Alcossebre Carnival will be on the 16th and 17th February

Anyone interested in playing the King or Queen of the 2018 Alcala-Alcossebre Carnival has until 14th December to present their candidatures to be registered at the municipal Council offices in Alcala and Alcossebre. All entrants will be put in a draw to be held on 15th December 2017 at 12 noon in the Council, and the female or male winner will be drawn.
The terms for the selection of the role show that individual people or groups represented by one person can take part and that, after they have been chosen, the person or group cannot enter the draw again for three years. The Council will make the carriage available while the King or Queen and their companions will have to provide their own costumes. The rules also specify that the Carnival King or Queen and their entourage are the last to enter the Sambódromo thus ending the Carnival procession with special choreography.
Susan Guillamón, the Fiestas councillor, has invited groups and those interested to sign up, pointing out that “Carnival is very popular and it has been noted that groups are already interested in knowing who will be the happy or unhappy person. As we do each year, we hope that a lot of people will come forward torepresent the King or Queen of our Carnival”.
The 2018 Carnival dates are from the 9th to the 11th February in Alcala, and on the 16th and 17th February in Alcossebre.
