The “El Repiquet” sound gets better all the time!

They were in Peñíscola on Saturday to get together with hundreds of other drums from all over the province.

The “El Repiquet” group of drummers successfully balanced their events locally during Easter Week.  The Good Friday vigil this year attracted one of the biggest crowds ever and proved that this event is continuing to win great support.
“We work so that the Good Friday vigil and the other events we organise in the municipality please the public and are an attraction.  There is no doubt that the response we have had this year was spectacular and this gives us great encouragement to continue along these lines”, explained José Ramón Pitarch, president of the group.
El Repiquet and “Lo Gaspatxer”, which is the biggest drum in the world, are becoming more well-known every time and this is the best news the group could have.  “During Easter, hundreds of people wanted to take photos next to the biggest drum in the world which could be seen at the different events in which we took part.  This is good for El Repiquet and for the town as it means that Alcala de Xivert is being talked about in many places”, Pitarch said.
There are more than 20 events, both in our town an in others throughout the Province and the Valencian Community, which will take El Repiquet up to the end of April, which gives an idea of the incipient activities the group carry out.  We also have a visit to France in our diary, under the umbrella of a Council cultural initiative, about which there will be more information shortly.
