The Council and FACSA are making this new facility possible. It will deliver 2,880 litre of treated water per day, similar in quality to bottled water

Two fountains of osmosis treated water are now available in Alcala and Alcossebre.  In Alcala the fountain is in the camino San Miguel, next to the Pabellón Polideportivo and municipal gym.  In Alcossebre it has been installed next to the municipal gym in Las Fuentes.  Both sources have the capacity to deliver 2,880 litres of treated water per day, of good quality and with an absence of impurities, a product which is very similar to a large part of the bottled water available to buy on the market.  Residents can access the osmosis treated water from the taps which have been set up on the outside of the two new facilities.  The Mayor Francisco Juan explained that “we believe that our residents will find it very convenient to get to where the two sources are and to be able to consume the treated water.  By being situated in sports areas, this means also that they are near spaces where the water can be drunk instantly”.

The construction of the two plants has cost 50,000 euros, and is part of the initial investments promised within the framework of the contract between the Alcala de Xivert Council and FACSA, relative to the concession for the Municipal Water Supply Service signed in 2008.  Benjamín Eixarch, the head of the FACSA service in Alcala, explained “This service which we are offering in cooperation with the Alcala-Alcossebre Council, has enabled us to prepare accessible facilities which will be more convenient for the user and who, through this process which completely respects the environment, will be able to enjoy a quality resource free from dissolved minerals and other impurities”..  The Area Director for the FACSA Supply, Pascual Maximino, stated that “this action is one more sample of the social agreement between FACSA and the Alcala-Alcossebre Council for citizens, to provide them with the best service, always applying the most innovative technology and with the greatest respect for the environment”.

The Mayor ended by pointing out that “this act has not involved any cost to the Council as it is included in the actions which the concessionaire FACSA has to carry out.  Other acts which the company has carried out within the contract were the modernisation and renewal of the water supply service.  Just in 2017, to mention the most recent, 3,000 metres of pipes were renewed, to improve the whole system”.
