This year the Royal Guard, which has chosen the province of Castellón to show and present various activities, will visit Alcala de Xivert on Thursday 19th April. Among the planned deployment of the officers in various towns in the province, the “Mar Océano” company, one of the Honours Group Units, will march to the Xivert castle as part of their specific training. The march, with 20 people taking part, will set off from Alcala at 16:30 hours and go up to the castle, where Rafael Ronchera, the curator of the Alcala Museum Collection, will offer them a guided visit to show them the history of the enclave.
At the same time, from 17:30 to 19:30 hours, in the Church Square, there will be a display where you can see the training material used regularly by the “Mar Océano” company: diving material, boats, individual and mountaineering material and armaments.
The Royal Guard would like residents “to visit the display, as one of the purposes of this visit to the province is to let us learn about them and to project the institutional picture of our unit, thus embracing links with the civil population through this sort of event”.
The principal mission of the Royal Guard is to give honour, safety and an escort for the Head of State and the Royal Family, as well as being part of the army, as in the case of the Compañía Océano, a marine unit.
The Council has offered all the facilities possible so that the Royal Guard can carry out its actions in the municipality aiming to “involve us with the municipalities in the province who are going to host the Royal Guard during these few days and for our residents to learn about their mission and the facilities at their disposal.
