Alcala-Alcossebre Council looks for formulae to protect residents’ interests faced with the approval of PATIVEL

Alcala-Alcossebre Council is studying what alternative techniques and judicial alternatives can be considered to continue protecting the interests of those residents affected by the development of PATIVEL, approved on 4^th May by the Generalitat Valenciana.  The Council will continue to make the Municipal Technical Services available to owners, who may have any enquiries or technical doubts which need resolving.

Technical Services are particularly concerned by the silence of the autonomous administration in the face of the declarations put forward by owners and the council, although  they have been rejected already but with no reasons for this being given.  On the other hand, they are faced with the refusal of the Generalitat Valenciana to include the alternative proposal put forward by the Council for town planning of the area affected by the PATIVEL prohibition of building along the coastline.  “The alternative presented by the Council respects all the parameters included in the PATIVEL: windows facing the sea, a non-floodable area and less dense building than that included in the PGOU, all to avoid the rights of the owners being affected.  But they have not taken this into account”, the leader pointed out.

“We on the Council are the first to be interested in protecting our environment but we cannot punish both the town and owners”, the Mayor Francisco Juan explained the he had insisted that “we are an iconic municipality in demanding buildings which respect our environment and it cannot happen that PATIVEL puts a brake on our economic development as a reference tourist destination.  At the same time, the Generalitat is carrying out the Via Litoral project with sections between Vinaros and Benicarlo and Torreblanca and Prat de Cabanes, leaving our municipality out”.
