Alcala-Alcossebre welcomed the arrival of Dutch tourists brought by wholesaler SOLMAR
A bus route has been created from Holland to Alcossebre and leading to promoting the destination in new markets, as was included in the Tourism Strategy Plan

Alcala-Alcossebre will receive new contingents of Dutch tourists, thanks to a new bus route between Holland and the locality. The wholesaler SOLMAR has included the town as a tourist destination in its brochure. This wholesaler, who is acquiring wide experience in Spanish coastal destinations and this year, is working with Alcala-Alcossebre including four local hotels in its offers. They work with 75,000 clients annually and, as their main characteristic, they sell their holidays through a call-center in which, depending on the needs and requirements of the clients, they advise them on the most appropriate destinations. Transport to these destinations is by 66- or 48-seater coaches, depending on the vehicle category. The first Dutch tourists arrived in the middle of April, staying in the Gran Hotel Las Fuentes and it is hoped that in the next weeks, new operators will arrive in Alcossebre on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
During a recent meeting with the Mayor Francisco Juan and the Tourism councillor, Alejandra Roca, with senior members of the wholesaler, interest was shown in continuing to work with the locality because of its characteristics as a holiday destination for their sort of client.
The Tourism councillor pointed out that “among the strategies included in the Tourism Strategy Plan was a plan to increase the marketing of the destination to different groups of the public so that with this operation in Holland, we are fulfilling this aim”. Mayor Francico Juan said that “increasing the number of places of origin and the sorts of people who visit us is essential to keep on becoming established as a tourist destination. Castellón airport has helped us to do this with the British but, in this case, the Dutch tourists will arrive by road in coaches, which will also diversify the public we are aiming at”.
