The Alcala-Alcossebre Patronal fiestas programme of events has been announced, to be held from the 24th August to the 2nd of September in Alcala and from 5th to 9th September in Alcossebre. In all, 15 days of fiestas and over 100 events putting the festival announcements for both centres together, with six nights of dancing and various evenings of bulls.
The Mayor Francisco Juan and the Fiestas councillor, Susan Guillamón, announced the programme of events, pointing out that it brings together very traditional events such as the presentation of the “festeres” and “festers” on Saturday 25th August and the Proclamation, on Sunday 26th, with sports, social, children’s and bulls events and the religious celebrations such as the celebration of the Patron Saint on the 29th. Also as is traditional, the 15th Harley Davidson and Custom Bike Rally in Alcossebre, taking place from the 30th August to 2nd September, completes the diary.
In addition, the festival context will provide an opportunity for the town to have two new initiatives organised by the Council: the healthy walking circuit, which can be followed on Monday 27th, at 19:00 hours, from the sports installations in the camino San Miguel, and the monuments route which will start on Sunday 2nd September, from 11:00 hours, for all those residents who want to take part in it.
A special new event will take place on the 29th and 30th August in the plaza de Les Escoles in Alcala, the 1st Alcala de XiBEERt Craft Beers Festival, where you can sample Valencian and International craft beers between 18:00 hours and 20:00 hours. Susan Guillamón explained that “this festival was planned for our young people but also so that people are encouraged to come to Alcala and dine afterwards in the town’s restaurants and bars and stay on for the events later those nights – the dance on the Patron’s day, the 29th, and the Youth Night on the 30th.
The Mayor reminded people of the important involvement of “the groups, which are the fiestas’ driving force and it is thanks to them that we can maintain this extensive programme of events” and he thanked “everyone for their work and cooperation, without which the fiestas would not be possible”.
They both ended by inviting “residents to enjoy the fiestas as a reason for joyfulness and for breaking routine and for visitors to join in all the events, which are always open, as well as for those who are invited”.
