Fitting out the Casa de Cultura Remigio Miralles in Alcala is almost complete.  The work consisted of renovating the toilets, renewing the electrical installation, painting and damp treatment throughout the building, as well as preparing the upper floor with partitions to create new rooms for use by the Music School.  Also a new air-conditioning and dehumidifying system has been installed.  The work was carried out at a cost of 41,842 euros, paid for out of the balance in the treasury generated from Council savings during 2017.

The building has important heritage and historic value and is recorded in the PGOU artistic-architectural catalogue.  It holds the council meetings room and is the headquarters of the Santa Cecilia Musical Association.

The works were visited on 14th November by the Mayor, Francisco Juan, and town planning councillor, José Colom and the councillor for Culture and Finance, María Agut.  Juan explained that “it is important to invest in improving public buildings such as this one, as in this case, it is very important to continue adding investments to those we have already planned for in the municipal budget.  In this case, we are adding 40,000 euros coming from savings for the improvement of the Casa de la Cultura.  This work will prevent the building from deteriorating so that it can continue being used as a municipal facility.”
