Alcala-Alcossebre to improve accessibility and surfacing in Las Fuentes through the Diputacion’s Plan 135

Alcala-Alcossebre Council will ask for various improvements to accessibility and surfacing in a large area of Las Fuentes to be included in the Provincial Diputación’s Plan 135.  The extraordinary council meeting held on Thursday 28th February ratified this request for assistance for three projects adding up to a total of 73,966 euros.

30,000 euros will be invested in the Las Fuentes square and the Avenida Manila to continue with surfacing the pavements, eliminating obstacles and improving pedestrian areas, as has been happening in previous years.  It will include dropping kerbs to provide access for disabled people, compacting the area and removing vegetation and roots, respecting the existing trees.  In the Apalusas walkway – between the municipal gymnasium and the open-air Library – the earth pedestrian path will be improved, to remove imperfections and uneven areas which are unsafe for pedestrians.  The work will cost 22,462 euros and will improve the pedestrian pathway, making it more accessible and creating a new pavement.  The Tomillo walkways and the Tanduay square will be surfaced in the pedestrian areas and the existing obstacles will be removed, seats will be removed and replaced, land levelled and pavements lowered.  In this case, the work will cost 21,584 euros.

“We are aware that we must continue working on the Las Fuentes urbanisation to that accessibility can be improved.  We have carried out various works in recent years, centred above all on the pavement surfaces, improving road safety and removing obstacles and, with these projects through the Diputacion’s Plan 135, we are taking a further step” emphasised Mayor Francisco Juan.
