Alcala-Alcossebre Council is working to consolidate the Santa Lucía hermitage archaeological site to make it possible for all visitors to better understand its historic importance. In recent weeks wood and dry-stone structures have been built to define each level at which recent campaigns have discovered remains, making the remains of the mediaeval castle and the finds of the Iron Age collected in recent campaigns seen more easily.
Accessibility to the site has also been improved, with earth steps, and wooden posts will be installed. The materials used have all been chosen with respect for the environment.
In recent years guided visits to the Santa Lucía hermitage archaeological site have proved successful and generated a lot of interest as a tourist and heritage attraction
