The Red Cross started providing rescue and lifesaving services on Saturday. 1st June.  As an improvement this year, the service will be extended until 30th September, instead of as in previous years when it ended on 15th September.  This applies to all the beaches except the Moro and Manyetes beaches, which will remain until the end of the first fortnight in September.  During July and August, the service will be available every day from 11.00 h until 20.00 h, one hour more than in previous years.  In June and September, it will end at 19.00 h.  The services will be available on the Las Fuentes, Cargador, Romana, Moro and Manyetes beaches.  Hours of availability will be found on the information panels on each of the beaches, as well as environmental analyses.

To have the beaches ready for the start of the season, new walkways, foot baths and showers have been installed.  The areas suitable for disabled people which have amphibious bathing chairs, baths and suitable changing rooms and rest areas, will be completed by 15th June.

Acting Tourism councillor, Alejandra Roca, has said that “we are counting on a lifeguarding service with longer hours in an attempt to meet the suggestions and requests of our beach users” and recommend that “people should always follow the instructions of the Rescue and Lifesaving service, with regard to the bathing conditions, for users’ greater safety”.
