The 7th Alcala de Xivert Tomata de Penjar Fair will be held on 12th and 13th October
During October, local bars and restaurants will offer menus based on the tomata de penjar

The 7th year of the Alcala de Xivert Tomata de Penjar Fair will take place during the second weekend of October, on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th. As in previous years, the area for the fair will be in the main streets in Alcala’s historic centre, with the Church square as the epicentre. Besides the stalls with craft products and locally grown products, and making particular mention of the stalls selling the tomata de penjar, as well as the show-cooking tent in which chefs will explain the gastronomic characteristics of the Tomata de Penjar.
Complementing the Fair celebrations, various local bars and restaurants will be offering menus during October in which the tomata de penjar will be the principal ingredient. Shortly, there will be advertising and distribution of the Fair programme giving the list of restaurants participating with their menu offers.
Alcala Council has already prepared the poster announcing this year’s event and is in contact with exhibitors to keep everyone up to date about the organisation of the event which brings thousands of people to the locality each year.
“We support setting up this Fair as a form of giving value to a product which is truly ours like the Tomata de Penjar is and with time and effort from the Council, we have made it grow and there are already many people for whom their visit is obligatory every year. We are going to continue making this Fair more attractive and reach more and more people who visit us, with the positive repercussion which it will mean for the town’s producers, businesses and hostelries”, Mayor Francisco Juan emphasised.
