Alcala-Alcossebre Council has stipulated that, following the removal of the bad weather warnings and the forecast for Thursday that there will be no rain, the Alcossebre fiestas can proceed as planned. Therefore, the erection of the tents – cancelled on Tuesday to prevent damage to the installations, due to the strong wind and weather – will take place during Thursday so that they can be ready for the opening of the Evening event at 18.00 hours. All the events planned for the Thursday will be held with the addition of the associations’ procession, originally planned for Wednesday, which will be held from 17.30 hours.
Fiestas councillor, Selene Blázquez, said that “we were concerned about the complete safety in the tent area and to prevent damage by the wind and weather and, therefore, at a meeting with the businesses it the need to delay erecting the tents was pointed out to them”. The Alcossebre fiestas will last until 15th September so the Council will continue deciding whether or not the events will be held depending on the meteorological forecast and any further warnings.
