Alcala de Xivert-Alcossebre Council has organised a Clean Up day for the collection of rubbish within the programme of activities during the 2nd Sustainability Week which this year is dedicated to awareness of climate change. On Saturday, 28th September the event will take place in the Sierra d’Irta Natural Park, in the area around Cala Blanca in Alcossebre. To encourage residents to participate, the Council will provide buses leaving Alcala at 09.00 hours from the parade next to the football field and from Alcossebre, leaving from the calle Colón. The activity, which will continue until 13.00 hours, is planned for any sort of person, with special interest for families with boys and girls, aiming to involve the youngest in caring for the environment and the correct management of the waste.
In previous years when the Clean Ups were organised in the Sierra d’Irta, the main waste found was composed of plastics, metals, glass, textiles, paper and cardboard and cigarette ends.
Juan Carlos Barceló, the Environment councillor, insisted that “all residents who want to, can take part, and also take advantage of the free buses which will drive us to the place where we are to carry out the activity”.
