Through the Health Department, Alcala-Alcossebre Council has organised a training course for the use of defibrillators and first aid to be carried out in the event of heart conditions. The aim is to have as many people as possible who know how to react in case there is a heart attack and how to use the defibrillator, taking into account that Alcala-Alcossebre is a Protected Heart Municipality and has 19 defibrillators installed in municipal buildings, sports facilities, educational centres, Local Police cars and beach life saving points.
The course, provided by specialist health staff, started with a session aimed at local educational centres professional staff and will continue with professionals and staff at the sports facilities, municipal facilities, the Alcala and the Alcossebre Pensioners’ Associations and the Capicorb Residents Association. Health councillor, Marien Traver, pointed out “that in total, we are going to train more than 80 people, as the more people who know how to use the defibrillators, the more effective we shall be at saving lives by using them”.
