Alcala de Xivert-Alcossebre PSPV-PSOE believes that the budget projected for 2020 contains “an important list of weaknesses”, and for this reason the municipal socialist group voted against it on 27th November.
Local socialist group spokesperson, Joan Ronchera, believes that the accounts suffer from material for investments as this section at 764,203.91 euros is reduced by 20% compared with 2019’s 948,647.42 euros. Ronchera also pointed out that the section for acquiring land “has been reduced by half in spite of the governing group’s wishes to start with the purchase of plots to carry out the Alcala-Alcossebre boulevard and the purchase of land for parking next to the plaza Juan Vilanova”.
Also, the socialist spokesperson regretted that 0€ were designated for the Drainage Master Plan, “a proposal from the municipal socialist group in the last legislature which diagnosed the complete municipal drainage network and established the actions required”. “Also the source of assistance for families for improving accessibility has ben cut in half, and the credit for repairing the roads, in spite of being the second largest municipality in Castellón province”, Ronchera added.
Other budget deficiencies are the reduction to assistance for contracting unemployed people in businesses in the municipality, “a socialist proposal which has gone from 18,000 euros to 10,000”, complained the GMS spokesperson who added that “nor has any powerful assistance been set up for opening businesses in spite of the situation of the commercial fabric being critical”.
Joan Ronchera also criticised the “there is no assistance for the integral refurbishment of homes and there is no solid support for public education”. Inn this regard, the municipal socialist spokesperson regretted the governing team’s opposition to the infant schools, the grant for school material and the university grants and for FP.
Finally, it must be pointed out that another “weighty reason” for the vote against was that the PP “refused to include in the agenda the debate about the amendments presented by the GMS”.
