The fresh water supply to the existing showers on Alcossebre’s beaches is being improved in time for the summer season.
In fact, work is in progress to replace the existing pipes with new ones which will guarantee a better quality of service and a considerable improvement in the maintenance of the facilities.  The current pipes showed problems consistent with the passing of time.
Francisco Juan, mayor of Alcala, considered this action to be of prime importance: “Maintaining and improving the shower facility on the beaches are part of the services we have to offer users.  It must not be forgotten that we are eminently a tourist town and we must rise to all aspects of this”.
Rafa Trujillo, the councillor responsible for Works and Services, explained that “the current pipes had deteriorated greatly, so that there was a considerable risk of leaks and cracks.  At the same time with the new pipes, the flow of water will be improved, and therefore the beach showers will work much better”.
The larger diameter of the new pipes will solve previous problems and the quality of the water for the showers will be the best.  Nearly 2,000 linear metres of water pipes are being replaced.  FACSA, the concessionaire for the supply of fresh water in the town, is carrying out the replacement work.
