Renovation work is now complete on the Alcala Municipal Services building at plaza de les Escoles nº2, so the Social Team Base and EEIIA – the Specialist Team for Intervention with Infancy and Adolescence – has returned to this location and are awaiting clients in these offices. The work consisted of completely adapting the space to accessibility standards, redistributing the space assigned to offices and rooms, removing architectural obstacles and building a new WC totally adapted for the disabled. The work had a budget of 71,066 euros and have obtained a grant of 45%, following the request by the Council to participate in the line of Assistance for accessibility for council houses and public buildings set up by the Generalitat Valenciana.
The Council considered it a “priority” to make these facilities more convenient and accessible as they are visited daily by so many people. Mayor Francisco Juan said that “we are working to give residents the best service and, in this case, we needed to remove the architectural obstacles from the building as, in many cases, elderly people or those with reduced mobility attend it”.
The Pangea Office is located on the building’s upper floor. Alcossebre residents can attend a sub-branch of the Social Services in calle Alcalà nº7.
