The Civil Guard has arrested a person for two fraud crimes committed against an elderly couple and theft from inside a house in the Alcossebre locality
The man was in charge of the care and maintenance of the home of two elderly people.
The Guardia Civil arrested a man aged 44 years suspected of carrying out the two fraud crimes and the theft from inside the uninhabited house in Alcossebre.
The arrest started when the Guardia Civil learned that in 2016 a man had taken on the care and maintenance of the home of the two elderly people, through a scam and abuse of trust, taking advantage of his victims’ trust in him and the close relations which united them he asked for 10,000 euros for a very delicate operation which his father-in-law had to have.
Later in 2017 and using the same scam, he returned to them requesting 7,000 euros this time, saying that the previous operation had not turned out well and he needed another.
In both cases, the couple gave him the amount requested, without later having any of the money lent returned to them.
On the 31st December 2019, the same man, knowing that the people’s house was empty, went inside, stealing cash as well as other valuable objects.
So, having learnt of these facts, the Guardia Civil started an investigation, carrying out numerous enquiries during which they discovered that the suspect had carried out numerous improvements to his house, and the connection between both crimes, which were perpetrated by the same person, resulting in the arrest of a man, aged 44 years, as the suspected author of the two fraud crimes and theft from inside the uninhabited home.
Together with the enquiries which were made, the man detained was made available to the Vinaròs Juzgado.
The act was carried out by Alcala de Xivert and Alcossebre Guardia Civil officers.
