Alcala-Alcossebre Council has unanimously approved the new basis for cooperating financially with the expenses incurred by groups when participating in the Alcala-Alcossebre Carnival. This aid means that groups will receive 300 euros for taking part in the Alcala procession, 300 euros for the Alcossebre procession and 150 euros for taking part in the Entierro de la Sardina. Expenses which can be defrayed are those resulting from the hire or purchase of the generator, hire or purchase of lighting and sound equipment, the acquisition of materials used to decorate the floats and make the costumes. To opt for this assistance, the groups have to registered on the Council’s groups register and to have a minimum of 10 members. To process the aid, they must have proof of the expenses, producing invoices in the name of the group’s representative. On Friday, 24th January at 19.30 hours there will be an informative meeting in the Alcala Pensioners’ building, where details of the process will be fully explained.
Treasury councillor, María Agut, emphasised that “we are trying to make our Carnival a spectacular event and give the groups the incentive to join the processions, both in Alcala and Alcossebre, and in the Entierro de la Sardina. We received a request from the groups asking us to cooperate financially to manage the expenses” and added that “Carnival bringss life to the municipality and is a financial driver, both for businesses and hostelry establishments”. Mayor Francisco Juan said that “the creation of this new source of assistance was a promise made by the governing team which we have already been able to apply to the first Carnival of the legislature”.
