Alcossebre suffers the effects of storm Gloria
The whole shore has been damaged with materials stripped away, sections of paving pulled up and the beach wooden walkways and platform badly damaged. The Council has already been in contact with other administrations about cooperating to repair the infrastructures.

The effects of the sea storm are visible all along the coast of Alcossebre. Although the storm has not yet ended, the first evaluations carried out by the Council are that there is damage to practically all the municipality’s coastal walkways and beaches. Due to the storm, plants, sand and stones have ended up on the walkways of the Las Fuentes, Cargador, Romana, Moro and Mañetes beaches and the force of the water has meant that the sea level reached almost to the pathway walls on the Las Fuentes and the Cargador beach. On the camino l’Atall, level with the Jaume I Camp site, sections of paving were dislodged and pedestrian areas such as the paseo del Cargador and the Camp site area are impassable because of the detritus, and the Council has put up signs and information to stop people driving there with their vehicles. More of the critical points are along the walkways and wooden platform on the Romana beach which had been almost totally replaced after the storm in 2017 and have now been almost swept away. Also, places such as the Estopet river bed and mouth remain flooded. Fortunately, it has not been necessary to rescue anyone.
The Council has coordinated signing at difficult points as well as the provision of machinery to remove the material and clean up, as soon as the storm and the rain die down. The Costas Provincial Service, Generalitat Valenciana and the Diputación Provincial have been made aware of the situation and the Diputación has been asked to cooperate with sending the machinery to facilitate the clearing up of materials and to re-establish normality as soon as possible.
Mayor Francisco Juan has said that “although the evaluation of damage is not yet definitive, at first sight we can already see that it is tremendous all along the shore and it is going to be necessary to cooperate with other administrations in order to recuperate and replace all the infrastructure as soon as possible”.
