Alcala-Alcossebre Council announced the competition to design the poster for the Fira de la Tomata de Penjar 2020. Entries can be of any conception and technique and must comply with a series of technical requirements which can be found in the basis published in the Municipal Electronic Base for Transparency Site. Entrants have until 20th March to present their finished work which should be sent to the Alcala de Xivert Council Culture Department. The prizes will be 600 euros for the winning piece and 150 euros for the runner-up. The jury will be formed by the Culture councillor, the municipal secretary and three other members: a representative from the Hanging Tomato Vendors’ and Producers’ Association; a representative from the Alcala-Alcossebre Business Association and a graphic designer or person with connections in the field of design, knowledge and experience in the sector. Once this decision has been made, the jury will then make their selection from the works submitted and accepted in the competition and the Council will organise them in an exhibition.
The Fira de la Tomata de Penjar poster will be used to announce the time of the fair, with publicity posters, leaflets and pictures on social media communications. María Agut, head of the Culture department, said that “this competition will add value, with an original poster, and quality which has been converted into the picture during this year of our fair” and expressed her hope that it would “awaken professional and artistic interest to submit their proposals for us”.
This year will be the eighth of the Hanging Tomato Fair and, with the passing of time, it has continued adding interest and visitors. It will be held on the 10th and 11th October this year.
