Saturday was the main day of celebrations along the coast, with events programmed from morning to night.
It was the eighth year of the “Animals Carnival” which was the first procession. Pets and their owners among those entertaining the most. In the afternoon it was the turn of the youngest children, with their procession of princesses, superheroes, baby animals and an endless line of people, passing through Alcossebre’s main streets and ending in the plaza Vista Alegre with hot chocolate for all participants.
As night fell, the big procession took place, with over 10 groups processing through the streets with their original costumes. For greater comfort for the crowds of people who watched the procession and so that everyone could see the spectacle, the council had installed new seating areas in addition to those usually found in the sambódromo area.
The Cocoloco band led the procession with music and animation, warming the night atmosphere, followed by the groups who then went into the sambodromo. Glitter and colour were paraded through the streets to the rhythm of the carnival music.
The great dance took the fiesta to the marquee installed along the promenade, and went on long into the early hours of the morning, enjoying the atmosphere right up to the last minute. On Sunday, the last of the carnival events was the annual fancy dress dance held in the pensioners’ centre.
