Alcala-Alcossebre Council is distributing masks to groups at risk and workers in establishments open to the public
Alcala-Alcossebre Council has distributed 150 masks to the different establishments which continue to serve the public, such as food shops, tobacconists, pharmacies, petrol stations, banks and vehicle repair workshops. This distribution is carried out aiming to have all the workers protected and to prevent possible contagion. Mayor Francisco Juan explains that “we contacted all the establishments and were asking them how many masks they needed and then delivered them, intending to add further actions which could ensure the protection of our population”.
Also, masks will continue to be distributed on a supportive basis in the municipal homes, delivering them to people who are part of the groups at risk and their carers. On Saturday a delivery was made to the Food Bank in Alcossebre and on Sunday to that in Alcala.
On the other hand, the Council has made a request for 3,000 more masks, having received a communication from the Diputación Provincial with the offer of coordinating an operation for the acquisition of masks to all the towns in the province, although the cost will be paid for by the Councils. The order is in addition to that already made by the Council last Thursday for 3,000 units. Adding together both orders, it is estimated that the whole population of Alcala-Alcossebre would be able to have this protective material. The Mayor said that “we have been requesting the Diputación and the Generalitat to make deliveries of material and, on finding that that which they send us was insufficient, we decided to carry out an order from the Council and now we are adding this new amount to that which we shall order for delivery to cover the whole population of Alcala and Alcossebre”.
