Creating new assistance and the increase in items to deal with the crisis caused by the COVID-19 will be the main contents of the session
For the first time in its history, Alcala-Alcossebre Council will hold its first electronic council meeting on Thursday, 30th April, at 13.00h. On the Agenda there is a special subject focussing on mitigating the financial effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. In fact, it will deal with a modification of credit for a value of 187,000 euros for financial assistance to revitalise local financial activity, the purchase of health equipment and new actions to revitalise tourism. Mayor Francisco Juan emphasised that “we will use sums remaining in the treasury, with that which we have thanks to good financial management which allows us to have savings, because our aim is to add the greatest amount of assistance possible which benefits all those local financial sectors which are most affected by COVID-19”.
Another item for the meeting will be the approval of the new regulation for the concession of financial assistance to businesses and the self-employed affected by the closure of their activity or the reduction of their turnover, due to the declaration of the pandemic. Another measure on the Agenda and which is also included in the assistance to businesses is waiving the occupation regulation of public street areas for tables, chairs and terraces at hostelry establishments.
Also on the meeting agenda is the assistance aimed at the refurbishment of facades and rooves and the mobility improvements in homes and commercial premises, so that more men and women residents can see themselves benefiting and thus, increase the activity for local businesses in sectors related to construction, plumbing, electrical work, etc.
INSTITUTIONAL DECLARATIONS
Among the item on institutional declarations, there is a Declaration on the Health and Social Emergency consequent on the pandemic which includes the creation of a Dialogue Table with all municipal groups present, to give proportional representation aiming to coordinate and prioritise those actions necessary to reverse the effects of COVID-19 which the town’s people, businesses and the self-employed are suffering. This declaration also includes holding a weekly committee of spokespersons to constitute a meeting forum where all the information required by the political groups can be given to them.
Other institutional declarations pick up the financial reconstruction needed to avoid rural depopulation, support for the public and universal health system, the request to the Spanish Government, Generalitat Valenciana and Diputación Provincial that they should adopt financial measures to reactivate employment in the province, ask the Generalitat Valenciana to carry out tests to put a brake on COVID-19 contagion and ask the Spanish Government to declare national mourning and a commemorative act for all the victims of the pandemic.
