Alcala-Alcossebre Council is starting a “Play at Home” scheme for the loan of children’s games
They have also created a stationery bank for families which cannot buy supplies
After the good response to the “Home Library”, the Alcala-Alcossebre Council Education Department has started a “Play at Home” service through which local families can request the loan of children’s games and entertainment resources for their sons and daughters. Families can request them by phoning 964.50.14.00, on Mondays to Fridays, from 17.00 hours until 20.00 hours and the games and resources will be brought to their homes in Alcala de Xivert and in Alcossebre, with all the safety and hygiene measures. Taking advantage of the children’s permitted outings an alternative is that by making an appointment through the same telephone number, they can come to the Social Services offices in Alcossebre, in calle Alcala, to be able to see the existing resources and to request borrowing them.
Education councillor, Selene Blázquez, stated that “considering that the boys and girls are not going to school, it is important to offer them play and teaching resources so that they can spend their time at home better”. Among the games on offer are board games, inventive games, traditional games and children’s books. There are also colouring books.
There is also a stationery Bank for those families who cannot manage to buy supplies, and they can request materials from the Social Services with the materials being made available so that their sons and daughters can continue their school and play activities with the necessary materials. Interested families can telephone 964.50.14.00 to make their requests.
Since the start of the lockdown, the Education Department has also been sharing daily school and entertainment activities (readings, stories, hobbies, recipes and physical exercises) so that the boys and girls in Alcala-Alcossebre can get through this situation better.
