The Mayor of Alcala-Alcossebre has requested in writing all the information on what conditions and requirements the beaches and the municipal swimming pool must comply with when they open. Letters were sent to the Health department, the autonomous Secretary for Tourism and the Government sub-delegate, recalling that, if the Vinarós department of health is going to comply with all the requirements and is moving with the phases, Phase 3 of the De-escalation Plan will start on 8th June next, and the beaches and public swimming pools would be able to open. Some of the measures and possible scenarios which have been set out to be applied on the beaches by experts have been setting up mechanisms for controlling the capacity, the removal of facilities which might be a focus for infection such as showers or foot-sprays or setting up some system of marking out the spaces. However, no regulation has yet been established, which is preventing the Council from being able to get on with the actions regarding this.
“We need clear instructions on what safety and hygiene measures we need to apply on our beaches and municipal swimming pool, what facilities are permitted or not and what safety measures we should apply to preserve the health of all beach goers. We need to know what they are as soon as possible so that we can start the work and so that we can open the beaches with all the guarantees, when we are told to”, Mayor Francisco Juan emphasised.
On the part of the Council, we also hope that the work, the responsibility of the Coastal General Management which has been paralysed due to the declaration of the pandemic, to prepare the beaches can start this week. “After storm Gloria, the Council repaired the accesses but the cleaning operation and repositioning of the wooden walkways is the responsibility of Costas which is why we hope that they will no longer delay and that our beaches can be in perfect conditions and comply with all the safety and hygiene measures”.
