Alcala-Alcossebre Council reopens the Municipal Libraries

The “Library at home” lending service will continue for people with reduced mobility and groups at risk

The Alcala and Alcossebre Municipal Libraries, which remained closed due to the emergency COVID-19 crisis state, reopened their facilities on Monday, 18th May, as set out in the Phase 1 of the De-escalation Plan.  They reopened after a series of safety and hygiene measures were put in place to prevent any type of COVID-19 infection. Elements were installed to maintain safe distance and the facilities are being disinfected periodically.  The Libraries will open at 30% of their capacity and users will be able to stay there for a maximum of 2 hours – aiming to prevent prolonged waiting for other users – and the use of masks and gloves is requested.  Book lending will be resumed as normal, adapting a space to deposit the books which have been handled during a day.  For safety reasons, young children can only enter accompanied by an adult and at the entrance there will be a point where hands can be disinfected with hydroalcoholic gel.  Opening hours are from 16.30 hours to 21.00 hours in the Alcala Library and from 15.00 hours to 21.00h in Alcossebre.  It will not be possible to use the public computers.

During the lockdown, the “Library at home” lending service had been set up for delivering the books requested by users to their homes, with all the safety and hygiene measures.  Given the welcome for this service, it will continue for people with reduced mobility and at-risk groups who have to remain at home.
