No positive cases among frontline staff in Alcala-Alcossebre

The council has facilitated carrying out diagnostic tests for all the staff who are on the front line and in direct contact with the population

[Img #78844]Alcala-Alcossebre Council took charge of carrying out immunological tests for the staff who are on the front line and in direct contact with the population, in order to detect the existence of possible positive symptoms of COVID-19, and thus adopt the appropriate measures to prevent infection.  Using the private Biotec Fly laboratory, tests were carried out on the whole Alcala-Alcossebre Local Police team, staff in Social Services and members of the Home Help Service and volunteers at the Food Bank.  On 1st June, it was reported that none of the tests carried out had shown positive.  These tests, which are made on blood samples, have a 98.3% reliability and confirm whether it is positive or negative or whether the person has been in contact with the virus, and all the tests carried out in Alcala-Alcossebre had negative results.

Mayor Francisco Juan emphasised “knowing that all the staff who are on the front line and are in direct contact with the population proved negative for COVID-19 gives peace of mind” and insisted that “we were among the first Councils to request the Health Department to carry out the tests on front line municipal staff and, on as they did not make them available to us, we decided to carry them out for ourselves, as we always considered it essential to have a specific control and to eliminate possible infection among our population”.
