Alcalà de Xivert PSOE presents a document urging that the lifesaving service deficiencies be resolved

Joan Ronchera, the PSPV-PSOE spokesperson, has presented a document to the mayor’s office requesting the governing team to urge the company which won the contract for the lifesaving services to comply “immediately” with the clauses agreed in the contract.  Ronchera appeals “urgently” to the leaders of citizen legality and safety because we hope for a rapid and efficient response, as safety is the principal value of the beaches”.

Setting this out, Ronchera said “we have made our concern known because of the evident lack of compliance with specifications for the lifesaving and sea rescue service on the Las Fuentes beach, where there is a shortage of material such as fixed radio communication, two lifejackets, two pairs of swimming flippers, two diving rings, binoculars, and a gas acoustic warning horn”.

The walkie-talkies the lifesavers have currently “do no let them communicate with their companions on the rest of the beach or with their coordinator, so that they have to use their personal mobile phones”.  Regarding the changing room, staff do not have footwear, whistles, nor polarised sun glasses and, regarding health material, there is no complete first aid kit, no oxygen therapy equipment and no properly labelled area for collecting sanitary waste.

“On the Las Fuentes beach there is no type of craft nor any owner of one and, apparently, there is no-one to operate one on any of the other beaches, in spite of it being mandatory to comply with having a minimum three craft to provide a rescue service”, Ronchera stated.
