Alcala-Alcossebre Council pays tribute to the Local Police for their role during the health emergency

Mayor Francisco Juan and Police councillor, Selene Blázquez, delivered a scroll to the Local Police force expressing the thanks and recognition of the whole population to the members of the team for their work during the emergency state period.  In the text, which is accompanied with a collage of drawings by local young people during isolation, it expresses “the thanks to all the men and women who are members of the Local Police force for their work and involvement during the course of the emergency state.  Your responsibility and humanity in those difficult times for the population will remain in the memory of our town for ever”.  So that it can be seen, the scroll will remain hanging in the entrance of the police station in the plaza Justo Zaragozà in Alcala.

Whilst isolation lasted, the Local Police carried out the “Resistiré” (I will resist) campaign which consisted of daily patrols through all the inhabited areas of the municipality, bringing support and company to the whole township, playing the song “Resistiré” and going to visit those in lock-down including youngsters who were celebrating their birthdays, playing the song “Happy Birthday” on the police vehicle megaphone.

In this way, the Mayor emphasised that “you accompanied our men and women residents, giving them encouragement and strength during some very complicated times and we need to recognise you for this.  Your work must always be valued but this year with even more reasons”.

The 29th September was chosen to make the presentation as it was the Local Police Patron Saint’s Day.  The traditional events to mark this festival, which included a parade review of the whole team, religious services and the team meeting, could not happen this year, due to the health situation.
